I don’t just take pictures—I chase the moment.
I’m Courtney Ludwig, owner and photographer behind Courtney Ludwig Photography in Santa Clarita, California. For me, photography has never been just a job. It’s the thrill of finding that split second when everything comes together and turning it into an image you can feel.
My love for photography started in high school, where I discovered the magic of developing my own photographs in a darkroom. That experience sparked a passion that has stayed with me ever since.
In 2008, I took that passion professionally in Tucson, Arizona, combining two of the things I loved most: music and photography. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph incredible artists and legendary bands including GWAR, Jack Russell’s Great White, Scorpions, and Incubus, while also contributing interviews and photo features to publications such as Musicians Photo Journal and ION Indie Magazine.
🏁 From the Stage to the Track
Today, I’ve added another kind of adrenaline to my photography—motocross, FMX, off-road racing, and action sports.
There’s something about standing trackside with a camera in hand while a rider launches into the air, tears through a corner, or sends a wall of roost flying that gets me hooked.
Speed. Dirt. Skill. Adrenaline. One chance to get the shot.
That's what I love about motorsports photography.
Capturing action isn't simply about pressing the shutter at the right time. It’s about anticipating what’s coming, knowing where to be, watching the rider, tracking the movement, and being ready for that split second when everything lines up.
The result is more than a photograph. It’s a moment that happened once—and now you get to keep it forever.
📸 More Than Just Action
While motorsports and live music bring an incredible energy, I also love slowing things down and capturing life's moments that matter most.
Over the years, I’ve photographed engagements, weddings, maternity sessions, families, senior portraits, proms, Quinceañeras, car shows, concerts, and special events.
Since returning to Southern California in 2015, I’ve continued building my photography business with one simple goal: provide professional, high-quality photography while keeping the experience comfortable, personal, and accessible.
Whether I’m standing in the dirt at a race track, in the pit at a concert, or celebrating a milestone with a family, I approach every session with the same philosophy:
Tell the story. Capture the emotion. Preserve the moment.
Photography has given me the opportunity to meet incredible people, experience unforgettable moments, and become part of communities that have welcomed me along the way. I’m grateful for every person who has trusted me with their memories and every rider, athlete, musician, couple, family, and client who has allowed me to tell their story through my camera.
